Line Handling

One day in vessel ops class my class went one one of our training boats Indy 7 we went up the east river to pier 17 to practice a docking method called warping. Warping is when you have to attach two of the lines for the boat, the bow and stern spring then put the boat in reverse to make a 90 degree angle and line up with the dock then make the other two lines as well. As we were doing this a graduate from harbor school Andersen Greaker was the captain when we were practicing. I was on the stern spring as we were doing this for the first time and I had the most difficult task because I had to toss the line furthest but I practice my tosses a lot so I was able to make it. We also had a very skilled person on the bowline so that was taken care of as well. After we got those two lines on then everything else came easy and we lined up with the docks then we tried it again with different people on the lines.
