Mastering the Crane

One day the Vessel Op's sophomore class went on Privateer to learn how to function and control the crane. Some of us went into the wheelhouse to control it while the rest were left outside to give directions. Our task was to land a raft on the boat and deflate it. This task was difficult for everyone on the boat. For the wheelhouse, they had to make sure they didn't hit anyone while the people on the deck had to avoid getting hit. While they were putting the raft on the dock, the rest had to find the compressed air canister and deflate it. Deflating the raft was a long process but eventually, we did it. Next, we had to roll it up and transfer it off the boat and on the dock. This was extremely difficult for everyone but it taught us how to communicate even with all the noise.
